Microsoft recently made available the latest Windows 10 preview build exclusively for insiders.
The build 10122 includes the virtual assistant Cortana and the browser Edge. The Windows 10 preview build is only available to registered Windows Insider Program users since the build is expected to have a few bugs that could cause headaches for the novices.
Aside from the aforementioned registration, users need to have an active Microsoft account to install it. System requirements are as follows: a minimum of 1GHz processor which supports PAE, NX, and SSE2; 2GB RAM for 64-bit or 1GB RAM for 32-bit OS; DirectX9 graphics with WDDM driver; and a minimum of 16GB HD space.
"I think you'll see that this build is a bit more stable and polished than the last one. From here on out you'll see fewer big feature changes from build to build, and more tuning, tweaking, stabilizing, and polishing," Microsoft OS group engineering GM Gabe Aul said on their official blog site.
"The Insider Previews continue to be aimed at very technical people who want to play with pre-released code, but I think you'll feel more and more comfortable using this build and future builds on your day-to-day systems," he added.
Meanwhile, the Candy Crush Saga is confirmed to be ported over to Windows 10.
"Solitaire, Hearts, Minesweeper... they're coming back in Windows 10. We're also working with partners to bring some of their great games... and we're excited to announce today that King will bring their game, Candy Crush Saga, to Windows 10. Candy Crush Saga will be automatically installed for customers that upgrade to or download Windows 10 during the launch!" the official announcement from Microsoft said.
Will the tech giant be able to get other popular mobile games and apps into Windows 10? If so, then it would be able to target both enterprise and consumer buyers better.
Windows 10 was originally expected to be released in late 2015 with the MS Office 2016 released possibly a little ahead. However it could be released as early as July 2015 or as late as Q3 2015.
A lot of devices and software are planned to be released in conjunction with Windows 10 like the Lumia phone series. Other features like the enterprise-level 84-inch touch screen device Surface Hub, and the wireless holographic headset Hololens were all talked about these past few months.
In consideration of the Internet of Things, Microsoft also came up with Continuum, which helps transition the OS in 2-in-1 devices such as laptops with tablet capabilities mainly for enterprise-level solutions and SaaS offerings. Continuum will unify multiple platforms such as the Windows PC, Lumia, Windows Embedded, and Xbox product lines. Finally, Windows 10 will also carry a two-factor authentication standard for security.
