"Orphan Black" recently aired one of its most shocking episodes when Sarah's ex lover, Paul died after confessing his feelings for her. Co-creator John Fawcett explained that Paul's death was an important part of the series and it will completely take Sarah to a "different course." How will Sarah cope with her loss? "Orphan Black" season 3 episode 6 titled, "Certain Agony of the Battlefield" showed that Paul came back to rescue Sarah, who was trapped and left alone in the prison cell. Paul made sure that Sarah escaped from Dr. Coady's clutches before confessing his feelings for her and telling her how much he loves her. Paul eventually releases the grenade and blows himself up along with the rest of Castor.
"It's such a big emotional explosion for Sarah, and it sends her on a different course... It means big things to help push her towards the drama of the finale," co-creator John Fawcett told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fawcett also admitted that Paul's death has been planned all along and that a major character's death in a series helps "real themselves emotionally, and elicit big reactions from people." The series creator also revealed that Paul's death will make Sarah even more driven to get down to the bottom of Project Leda.
Meanwhile, "Orphan Black" spoilers reveal that a surprising friendship will begin to form between Scott and Rachel. As seen on the latest episode, Scott felt guilty when Felix harassed Rachel to reveal Sarah's whereabouts. Spoilers also hint that their friendship will help Scott make the "greatest discovery of his life."
Fans will also begin to see more of Rachel's vulnerable side and Fawcett hinted that this will definitely change her path in "Orphan Black" season 3. The series creator promised that while episode 6 was explosive and tear jerking, the following episodes will be lighter before it heads on to its season finale.
