The latest movie adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cottilard premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week. While the movie does not get out in public until later this year, Fassbender and Cotillard will be reuniting sooner for another highly anticipated film, the "Assassin's Creed" movie.
It seems Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard have their hands full this 2015, as both stars have recently premiered their movie adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" at the Cannes Film Festival. Just a couple of months from now, Cotillard and Fassbender will be back on set together for yet another film directed by Justin Kurzel, the "Assassin's Creed" movie.
It has been over three years since the "Assassin's Creed" film came to light and Fassbender joined the movie adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game. While there were speculations that the movie may not happen, Fassbender recently announced that the cast and crew will begin filming in September.
"You say it's a long time, but what I've found - it's all new to me, but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time," the "Shame" actor told Coming Soon.
Fassbender also explained that the reason for the long wait is because everyone knows that the "Assassin's Creed" game was such a success that 20th Century Fox would not want to make a mess out of the movie; and therefore, write a good story out of it. Fassbender is rumored to play as the game's protagonist, Desmond Miles in the movie and will star alongside Cotillard.
Meanwhile, Fassbender and Cotillard are receiving good reviews for their performance in the movie, "Macbeth."
"After seeing Fassbender and Cotillard in these roles, the thought of ever seeing anyone else play them fades into irrelevance," reviewed Robbie Collin of the Telegraph.
Fassbender also revealed during the press conference that playing the role of Macbeth made him realize that his character was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The actor recounted that Macbeth engaged himself from one battle to another and likened his character's hallucinations to that of soldiers returning from the Middle East.
"Assassin's Creed" movie premieres on Dec. 21, 2016.
