'Conan the Barbarian' Sequel Update: Arnold Schwarzenegger Reprising Iconic Role, Patrick Schwarzenegger to Be Conan’s Successor?

By

A reboot for "Conan the Barbarian" is not going to happen. It has been officially announced by producer and writer, Chris Morgan, that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his iconic role as Conan - and that it's going to be a sequel to the 1982 original. Morgan also revealed that the title will be "The Legend of Conan".

According to 'TheArnoldFans' website, the sequel will be revisiting the barbaric world of John Milius. It will highlight Schwarzenegger's character 30 years later - aged, but battle ready. As for the tone of the film, Morgan says it'll show off a dark and gritty side.

He adds, "Our tone is a logical extension of the character established in the '82 film, but 30 years later. Think Unforgiven, with a sword-wielding barbarian."

The film's producer also hinted that at least three of the 1982 cast would appear once more in the upcoming sequel. Possible appearances may include - Subatai (Gerry Lopez), Red Hair and the Pictish scout (Franco Columbu), and The Wolf Witch (Cassandra Gave).

It was also rumored that Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold's son, has been added in the cast. His role in the movie has not been revealed yet. Will Conan finally have a successor? Patrick already appeared in some major projects "Grown Ups 2" (2013) and the upcoming Paramount film "Scouts vs. Zombies".

Arnold seem to be mum about the details, but he confirms the script's development, "I can tell you that it's unbelievably well-written. They're still tweaking the end, but it's going to be very very powerful. This is a very important movie for us, it has to be the best quality."

"The Legend of Conan" will start filming in the fall of this year. Production was delayed due to Schwarzenegger's busy schedule - he is still preparing publicity for "Terminator Genisys". There has been no release date for the sequel yet.
