‘Castle’ Season 8 Spoilers: Kate Beckett To Run For Political Office? Castle To Pursue Kate Again

By

ABC recently confirmed the renewal of "Castle" and one of its lead stars, Stana Katic, has also signed up to reprise her role as Kate Beckett. Ahead of season eight's release, there have been reports that Kate could run for political office in the upcoming installment.

According to Cartermatt, there is a huge possibility that Kate could run for political office in season 8 especially since this idea was already teased during last season's finale episode. At that time, a colleague encouraged Kate to follow her other passion, which is getting into politics, as this could be another way for her voice to be heard, according to Latin Post.

Meanwhile, other than Kate's budding political career, there have also been reports that the character and Richard Castle's (Nathan Fillion) relationship could take centerstage this season. As of late, there have been very few spoilers released as to direction of season 8 but during a recent interview with TV Line, "Castle" showrunner Alexi Hawley teased that the season will still be about Castle and Kate's relationship.

"At this point, we haven't even sat down and talked about it yet. Fundamentally, Kate and Castle's relationship has room to have movement in it. So for me - and I can't speak for Terence Winter - we're just excited to go in there and see what the future holds," she said.

Hawley also expressed her delight over Katic's return to the series, saying that at least the "Castle" team no longer has to worry about creating a storyline without one of their lead stars.

"I'm thrilled not to have to come up with a show that doesn't include Stana. That's a high-wire act. There's always a Plan B but it would've been a fundamentally different show and that would've been quite a mountain to climb," she explained.

"Castle" season 8 will return to ABC in the next few months.
