"Castle" has been renewed for another season despite numerous speculations that season 7 will mark the end of the ABC police procedural crime drama. Stana Katic has also recently announced that she will be reprising her role as Detective Kate Beckett alongside Nathan Fillion who plays Rick Castle. While the show's renewal came as good news for most fans, others couldn't help but express Katic's sentiments that the show should not "overstay its welcome."

"Castle" fans rejoiced after the show was officially renewed for season 8 and Stana Katic announced that she would be back next season. Prior to these announcements, most fans of the ABC mystery and crime drama speculated that season 7 will mark the end of the story of Kate Beckett and Rick Castle. One user named "s3rndpt" commented: "I was a rabid 'Castle' fan, but the past season lost me. It just became another 'dramedy.' It makes me sad because I love Nathan Fillion, but the show is really past its prime, imo, and even he can't save it..." Another fan thought that the idea of Beckett running into the senate would ruin the entire show.

Christine Orlando of TV Fanatics shares the fans' sentiments and said that Beckett entering the world of politics "would completely change so much" of what she loved about the show.

Meanwhile, "Castle" will be spearheaded by new showrunners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley. Kate Beckett will be back as Detective Kate Beckett and Nathan Fillion as Rick Castle. Other characters have yet to announce reprisal of their respective roles.
