It has been almost two decades since the release of Chuck Palahniuk's debut novel "Fight Club" and now the award-winning novel has a sequel narrated by a suburban father. Instead of writing another book, Palahniuk decided to make a "Fight Club 2" graphic novel that serves as the sequel for his acclaimed work. The author also joins in the story itself to add meta factor in the sequel.
Chuck Palahniuk released the first of the 10 issues of "Fight Club 2" recently, which picks up years after the novel ended. The sequel follows the life of a narrator that turns out to be a suburban father named, Sebastian, and is married to Marla Singer.
At first however, the story will be told through Tyler Durden's perspective as he observes the life of Sebastian the narrator. Sebastian's marriage is failing together with his life and even his wife, Marla, is facing the same thing. Dissatisfaction hovers in their house and that's where Tyler Durden comes in to ruin (or excite) their lives once again.
The "Choke" author also admitted that he will be part of the "Fight Club 2" maxiseries by being one of the characters in the graphic novel. Chuck appeared in the first issue of the sequel to pursue the meta factor of the novel and said that he will be appearing around the 4th and 5th issues as well.
Aside from Chuck Palahniuk himself, other writers for the comic book will also appear throughout the series. To explain their "meta thing," Palahniuk said that, "We live in a world where the creator becomes as much a character as the creation."
Whether or not "Fight Club 2" will also have its own film adaptation like the first novel is still uncertain at the moment. But seeing Edward Norton and Brad Pitt reprise their roles in the big screen is definitely not a bad idea.
Tyler Burden will return in Chuck Palahniuk's "Fight Club 2" graphic novel to terrorize the life of its narrator named, Sebastian and his wife, Marla. Palahniuk adds an interesting way of telling the story by going meta and joining his novel as one of its characters.
