The new Netflix "Original Series Sense8" will go on air beginning Friday, June 5. It is an American science fiction drama series. It is a TV debut for Lana and Andy Wachowski, who are popularly known for films like "The Matrix" trilogy, "Cloud Atlas" and "V" for Vendetta. The name of the new series is actually a play on the word "sensate", which means "aware".
The film stars Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Terrence Mann, Freema Agyeman, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra, Adam Shapiro, Ness Bautista and Joe Pantoliano. The Wachowski siblings have co-collaborator with J. Michael Straczynski to create "Sense8". The latter has described the series as "a global story told on a planetary scale about human transcendence and what it ultimately means to be human in a contemporary society".
The storyline of Sense8 will revolve around all these eight characters from different parts of the world, who suddenly find themselves mentally and emotionally tied together up to telekinesis. This apart, they are also being hunted by some secret organization that sees these people with exceptional abilities as threat. Each new episode will focus on one character and their story.
According to the official description: "Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them." Whatever Sense8 is, this first trailer is looking good.
After their most recent movie, "Jupiter Ascending" was a disaster, the Wachowskis are ready with their new series. The Wachowskis are expert at applying silly genre concepts to human emotions. The spectacle becomes intrinsic to their characters. That seems to describe their new Netflix Original Series Sense8 in a nutshell. For the Wachowski fans the movie's theme is not unfamiliar. "Sense8" is similarly complex and layered, as seen in the recently-released trailer.
