Samsung's mysterious device, codenamed Project Zero 2, is said to be launched in the coming weeks as Galaxy S6 Plus. The alleged Galaxy S6 Plus will come out with a 5.4-inch/5.5-inch display, rivaling Apple's 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus.
Since the release date is in the "coming weeks," reports SamMobile, the clock is now ticking for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus and it is expected that it will have a 5.4-inch/5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, 32 GB internal storage, hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 5 MP front camera, and a 16 MP rear camera. Rumors also said that it will not have an S Pen.
On top of these specs, the device could have a Clear View and S View casings as well as a Keyboard Cover, which is somewhat like a "detachable keyboard case."
Further, it seems Samsung is dead serious about defeating their arch-rival, especially that sales about the Galaxy S6 device reportedly reached to 6 million units at the end of April. This is less than a month after it was launched.
GMA News Online states that the total sales of S6 and S6 Edge from April 10 to April 30 were also seen higher than the Galaxy S5 in the same timeframe last year, suggesting that the current flagship phones will spur Samsung to "regain the momentum" after a disappointing record in 2014.
Now that sales of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices project a positive outcome, it looks that Samsung wants to continue the momentum by releasing Galaxy S6 Plus. Others already take it as an obvious fact that the Korean company is rivaling Apple's iPhone 6s Plus.
Apple Insider said, "If Samsung does indeed brand its larger Galaxy S6 Edge variant with the 'Plus' name, and with a 5.5-inch display, it will undoubtedly draw even more criticism for aping Apple's branding and design."
As far as comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus and the Apple smartphone is concerned, MacRumors mentioned that the iPhone 6s Plus is going to have a 5.5-inch display, Force Touch sensor, new rose gold color, 12 MP camera, one microphone added near the speaker, A9 processor, different casing material and internal mechanical design, improved recognition rate of Touch ID, and gesture control support. Further, the device is speculated to be released around August-September.
Apple and Samsung are yet to release official statements about their devices. Hence, readers should take these with a grain of salt.
