Margot Robbie, the last woman on earth, finds herself at the center of a post-apocalyptic love triangle in the newly released trailer of Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions' "Z for Zachariah". The forthcoming film which co-stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Chris Pine as Robbie's love interests is set for a limited theatrical premiere on August 21st,.
The dilemma, according to First Showing, starts when Ann (Margot Robbie) who believed she was the only person left in the world, meets Chiwetel Ejiofor's distraught scientist, Loomis. She develops a bond with the man which was later on interrupted by Chris Pine's character, Caleb, who emerges from the surrounding forest.
Unlike most post-apocalyptic films, "Z for Zachariah" does not feature any flesh-eating creatures as the cause of humanity's extinction. Instead, the film takes a more dramatic and minimalist approach on the subject matter, with only three actors on its list of cast.
"Z for Zachariah" is a film adaptation based on Robert C. O'Brien's novel of the same name and is written by Nissar Modi. As per Slashfilm's report, Craig Zobel of the unsettling film "Compliance" directed the film which gained mostly positive reviews in its first premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
In related news, all cast members will proceed to highly-anticipated, huge blockbuster movies. According to Design & Trend, Robbie Margot is expected to appear as the super villain Harley Quinn in David Ayer's 2016 DC Comics adaptation "Suicide Squad."
Chris Pine, on the other hand, is reprising his role as James Kirk in the upcoming third installment of "Star Trek". As for Ejiofor, he is set to play a supporting role in Marvel's "Doctor Strange". Though the details of his character are still under the wraps, the film is expected to premiere November next year.
"Z for Zachariah" is expected to hit selected theaters on August 21 this year.
