Motorola testing Moto X 2015 in India bearing codename ‘Calisto’; possibly rivaling Google Nexus 5 and 6 2015

Motorola allegedly delivered a Moto X 2015 device on May 15, 2015 to India for testing purposes. Zauba also listed the purported Moto X 2015 handset with codename Calisto.

"The phone has been codenamed as Calisto, as listed in Zauba the import export tracker listing," reported STJS Gadgets.

The listing reportedly showed the price of the device, estimated to be around US$500 (INR 29,775) as per exchange rate, and the phone was also marked as "sample and for testing purposes only, Not for sale." This led to conclusions that it might be the Moto X, since it also has a higher pricing, and that it could be the "very first samples of the same."

Moreover, Motorola won't be making just one Moto device as the company is said to be working on two handsets, with one as the larger 5.7-inch version and the other a 5.2-inch variant.

"We have some new information to share related to this leak. Apparently, there will be two versions of the third-generation Moto X. One variant with a 5.7-inch QHD screen will be a Verizon exclusive. The other model will feature a 5.2-inch QHD panel," said Phone Arena.

In terms of its specifications and design, it was recently leaked in a YouTube video by Total Tech. He revealed that, either one or two of the Moto X 2015 devices, have 4 GB of RAM, an unknown Snapdragon processor, stereo speakers, probable USB Type C, and Android 5.1.1. Besides wood, plastic, and leather, they will also have a "new material."

But he gave a type of disclaimer about the leak saying, "While this is some pretty solid info I do have to issue a disclaimer as the model in CPU Z doesn't match up with something NEW.... But the screen size, Resolution, and everything else is different, The front facing speakers are up higher as I point this out as well."

If this is the case, this could seem to imply that Motorola might be rivaling Google's two upcoming Nexus 2015 devices: the 5.2-inch LG Bullhead Nexus 5 and the 5.7-inch Huawei Angler Nexus 6.

And so far, the LG Bullhead is expected to have a 2700 mAh battery and Snapdragon 808, while the Huawei Angler will sport a Snapdragon 810 with a 3500 mAh battery.

"This would be the first time Google has released two Nexus phones in one year, but this is apparently the plan," said Android Police.

It is still uncertain of Motorola would opt to release two handsets as the company is yet to make official statements about their upcoming Moto X 2015 device or devices. Hence, readers should take these with a grain of salt.
