Android 5.1 updates are now available for Moto X (1st Gen) and Moto X (2nd Gen) devices in Brazil and US, which will bring visual style, device interaction, improve stability, and give better control over notifications.
Sony is also said to roll out Android 5.1 updates for Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, and Xperia Z1 Compact on August 2015 in order to bring bug fixes and improvements.
Android 5.1 updates for Moto X (1st Gen) devices
Motorola just released the Android 5.1 update for Moto X (1st Generation) owners in Brazil, and is expected to bring various improvements such as visual style and device interaction. Once the Lollipop upgrade is installed in the device, it can no longer revert to the previous version.
The Android 5.1 will bring the following improvements:
- New design
- Notifications and priorities
- New settings interruptions and sleep
- Recent applications (multitasking)
- Motorcycle
- Moto Screen and Screen environment
- Moto Assist and sleep
- Flashlight
- Quick Sets
- Share your device
- Application fixing and screen

- Smart Lock (Trusted Devices)
To install the Lollipop upgrade, the device must be charged at least 50% and is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Instructions are as follows:
1. Select "Download."
2. After finishing the software download, select "Install Now."
3. When the software is installed, the phone will automatically restart.
4. Now, the phone is updated with the LPA23.12-2 version.
Those who did not receive a notification message can update the their device manually by the following steps:
1. Select the Setup icon in the application menu.
2. Select "About phone."
3. Select "System Updates."
4. Select "Donwload." After finishing the software download, select "Install."
5. When the software is installed, the phone will automatically restart.
6. Once restarted, the phone is updated with LPA23.12-2

Android 5.1 updates for Xperia Z devices
For Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, and Xperia Z1 Compact owners, an Android 5.1 is also coming to these devices by August 10, 2015. A test submission was received for the three devices, but a showstopper issue was reportedly identified. A new submission based on Android 5.1 is expected to be on July 10.
