The long-awaited movie adaptation of the historical fiction video game "Assassin's Creed" is one step closer to the big screen as the official movie poster has been finally released online. The poster of the movie features an eagle against the "Animus", a high-tech device that essentially allows characters to travel into their ancestors' pasts, that is commonly used in the video game series. In the bottom part, the film's name, simply titled as "Assassin's Creed: The Movie" at this point, as well as a release date of Dec. 21, 2016 is placed.
No other further details were disclosed in the poster. According to Gamerant, for now, there have only been unconfirmed reports regarding the forthcoming film's possible filming locations and the characters from the game that will possibly appear in the film. But on the brighter side, two actors were already reigned to play a part on the upcoming film -Michael Fassbender, ("X-Men" and "Macbeth") and the Oscar winner Marion Cotillard("Ex Machina" and "Macbeth").
What exactly 20th Century Fox and Ubisoft Motion Pictures' upcoming film will be about is still under the wraps though, but Tech Times predicts that it will draw heavily from the first version of "Assassin's Creed" which was released on 2007. The said version tells the story of the present-day character Desmond Miles, who uses a machine called the Animus to discover the secrets of the past. There, he finds himself involved in collusion between the Assassin's and the Templars.
It is speculated that Fassbender is set to play the role of Miles and possibly one of his ancestors while there are still no predictions for Cotillard's role. The film which according to Comic Book Movie is co-financed by RatPac and Alpha Pictures is scheduled to start filming August this year. Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet, Conor McCaughan, Fassbender and Pat Crowley are producing while Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie wrote the script.
