Set for release October 16 this year, the upcoming film adaptation based on R.L. Stein's horror series "Goosebumps" is already nearing its premiere. To stir up the excitement of its fans, the author, Stein himself, has teased the things in store for the forthcoming movie; and first on the list is Jack Black's "much more evil" character.

"Goosebumps", according to TV3, is a movie adapted from the iconic children's horror series of the same name which were penned by R.L. Stein. On the film, the actor-comedian Jack Black is set to play the role of the highly fictionalized version of the author who writes the stories to guarantee that monsters do not begin raging around the world. Predictably, he fails to do so and teams up with a few children to get things back to normal.

In an interview with Coming Soon, he lightheartedly stated that Jack is "much more evil" than the real-life person he is portraying in the movie. "He's much more evil than me", he teased. "He's much more sinister, and in the first part of the film Jack is mean, very mean."

Despite this, Stein also emphasized that there are still differences between him and Jack's portrayal of particularly the fact that Jack's character is more troubled than him, the real-life person. "He has issues with Slappy the Dummy, he feels bad about what he's created, he feels guilty."

The 71-year-old author also explained that even though it might sound fun to make, the crew also took the movie very seriously. According to him, they were worried about crafting the movie too scary so they made it funny as well.

Moreover, Stein is satisfied with the structure of forthcoming film which according to him has a lot of "twists and shocks" in store for its fans and viewers. But he also warned that instilling it with a message is really not prioritized in the movie. "No morals. Seriously, there are no morals. The moral is, "RUN!" That's it, that's all," he stressed. "I don't try to teach anything, I want these to be only entertainment."

By the sound of Stein's teasers, it seems like the big screen adaptation of "Goosebumps" is really something to wait for and be excited about. Now for its fans that are already itching to watch it on the silver screen, there are only four months left before its premiere.

As per R.L. Stein's announcement back in February, "Goosebumps" is expected to arrive in cinemas this year, on October 16.
