Bill and Ted 3 is still being worked on, but will reportedly happen. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reassured Bill and Ted fans that they are not tired of being asked about the film and said that they are pretty close to creating it.
In 2010, the filmed was confirmed stating that a part 3 of the famous 1980s comedy film will soon hit the big screen. In 2013, a director for the film has been confirmed as Dean Parisot. But after that, the progress about the movie seemed to stop coming, concerning fans as to whether or not the movie will still push through.
The answer to these concerns seem to be affirmative as both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter said that they are 'really close'.
In an interview Winter was asked about the progress in the plans for the film, "We're really close. We're just about there," Winter said. "In Hollywood parlance, [that] means we'll either be shooting soon, or it's never going to happen."
"It's really been us driving the whole thing, me and Keanu and [writers] Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon]. So we're producing it and we're actively trying to get it made. We're not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking about it and actually shoot the damn thing." He added.
Aside from him, Reeves' answer to the concers is also affiirmative. "We're a little closer. We're a little closer. There's now talk of contracts and maybe paying the writers to go and write. There might be some support for making the picture."
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is about 2 slackers who time travelled using a phone booth. The film was first released in 1989 and had a sequel in 1991.
Sequels for previous 90s and 80s films seem to be a new trend and a good market as several movies including Indiana Jones and the upcoming Independence Day 2 have created sequels after more than a decade. More details about Bill and Ted 3 is expected in the days to come.
