The recently green-lit season three of the television series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is already gearing up as actors Henry Simmons and Luke Mitchell were promoted to be a regular character. Meanwhile, it is speculated that the next season of the hit ABC show will feature more of the Inhumans.
Fan favorite Henry Simmons (Agent Mack) and Luke Mitchell (Lincoln Campbell) have been promoted as a series regular for the third season of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Den of Geek reports. Simmons plays a S.H.I.E.L.D. mechanic with a contempt of the alien and superhuman while Mitchell's character is an Inhuman with the ability to manipulate electrical energy.
"Luke proved a valuable addition to our cast in Season 2, and after seeing him light up the screen with his charisma we knew we had to have him back for more," said Jeph Loeb, executive producer, in a statement. The two actors are an addition to the core cast reprising their roles for the ten-episode third season including Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson and Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson/Skye.
Luke Mitchell's elevation to be a regular character implied that the season three of the show will focus on the Inhumans. According to a report by Christian Today, a group called Secret Warriors, which comprises of Inhumans and other super-powered beings working directly for S.H.I.E.L.D. will be featured.
The group is believed to be spearheaded by Bennet's character Skye, whom is an Inhuman, and will be initiated by Coulson. Mitchell's Lincoln Campbell will also be a part. "We're playing with our little corner of the Inhuman universe, and this seems like a good way to expand it," exclaimed executive producer Jeffrey Bell in an interview with Zap2it.
No official announcements have been divulged regarding the third season's official premiere date but reports claim that it will air on the third week of September this year.
