With the events that took place in the season 2 final of "Chicago PD," many are wondering if Sophia Bush is preparing the fans of the show for her eventual exit. Now that her character is not part of the Intelligence, there might be a chance that the showrunners decide to say goodbye to her character for good.
NBC's police procedural drama "Chicago PD" is about to enter its third season with the Intelligence a little crippled following Erin Lindsay's resignation from the team. She had a rough run throughout season 2 but during the show's finale, Erin just had enough.
The tough Intelligence Unit detective and former CI was struggling in series 2 as per Inquisitr's reports. During mid-season, Sophia Bush's Erin Lindsay left the Intelligence over the federal task force, a career move that did not successfully pan out. She also tried to take her relationship with her partner, Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), to the next level but that, also, turned out to be unsuccessful.
However, the biggest blow to her character is the death of Nadia Decotis (Stella Maeve), an 18-year-old addict whom she was able to save. Towards the end of season 2, Erin has been dealing with the death badly leading to finally quitting her job.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sophia Bush throws light on the speculations that she will not be returning for "Chicago PD season 3" after her character quits on the team of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). The "One Tree Hill" alum is even excited to see how her character will deal with her current situation.
"That kind of breakdown of your psyche is the thing that I'm looking forward to delving further into as the season picks up," said Bush.
NBC renews the "Chicago Fire" spin-off after the show managed to earn fair ratings, which sat on the top spots of highest-rated scripted series, as per TV Series Finale.
"Chicago PD" season 3 will still see Sophia Bush's Erin Lindsay but it is still uncertain how long will she become apart from the Intelligence Unit. The series will return this fall, Wednesday, 10 PM, on NBC.
