Almost three years now since the introduction of Nintendo's current-generation gaming console, Wii U, the same company that also brought us its older gaming platform, the Wii, Nintendo is now rumored to be in the works with the successor to the Wii U code named "NX." Part of the rumor also is that the same developing Nintendo hardware will be running on Android, an operating system that has been dominating the smartphone market up to the present.
In light of this speculation, however, various sources have been now clearing the false notion regarding to the up and coming gaming console by Nintendo. And no, it won't be running on an Android (or possibly Android-based) operating system. This is in direct contrast to the earlier speculation that says the likelihood of this next-gen home console running on a Google's own developed open-sourced operating system (Android) as reported by sources such as Gamespot, among others, originally sourced from a reputable Japanese newspaper, Nikkei.
The fact was evidenced by a statement coming from a Nintendo spokesman himself, "There is no truth to the report saying that we are planning to adopt Android for NX."
Apart from the announcement about the development of Nintendo NX as a next-gen console, there is not an information about it. Given also Nintendo's commitment not to reveal any information regarding any relevant information on the machine, we may not be hearing anything from them until probably 2016, according to Nintendo CEO, Satoru Iwata himself.
"It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year."
Even the anticipated E3 2015 reveal will not be a possibility at this rate.
Despite the somewhat let-down surprise coming from Nintendo with regards to Nintendo NX, there are still many reasons to be excited about at this year's E3 coming from Nintendo itself.
For now, the E3 event would be enough distraction to keep us occupied while waiting for a word about NX from Nintendo.
