It looks like the fans of Iron Man will have to wait a little longer for the superhero to star again in a titular movie as "Iron Man 4" will reportedly happen only after the phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, according to some reports, has been pushed back due to lead actor Robert Downey Jr.'s demand for higher pay.
The rumors and speculations regarding the long-awaited sequel of "Iron Man" is likely to continue to surface in the next couple of years as no word about the film is expected to be released by Marvel soon. According to Master Herald, Marvel Studios is set to focus on "Iron Man 4" once the production of the two-part final "Avengers" movie is already over.
It is said the main reason behind the sequel's delay is because of financial concerns. Christian Today reports that Robert Downey Jr.'s fee for his appearance in "The Avengers" has reached $50 million -the same amount he received for starring in "Iron Man 3".
It was noted by Variety that the 50-year-old actor was Forbes' highest paid actor in 2014, earning up to $75 million. Also, Downey was included in the list of the top paid actor in 2013 wherein he reportedly accumulated the same amount of money. With the success of the franchise which became the 7th all-time top grossing film, it seems like the "Iron Man" lead actor is already demanding for a raise this time.
However, if the "Iron Man" franchise still proves to be financially stable, and if the studio considers spending more for the solo movie, Downey might still come back for the part 4.
For the meantime, the fans will still be able to watch Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel's upcoming slate of superhero films specifically in "Captain America: Civil War" which is set to be released on May 6, 2016, and the two-part final chapter of the Avengers, "Avengers: Infinity War" slated to premiere in 2018 and 2019.
