Just like the live-action remakes of "Maleficent" and "Cinderella", Disney is going to make some changes in the forthcoming film "Beauty and the Beast". This time, it will no longer be an enemy-turned-hero kind of twist, but a change in the musical scores instead. Though some of its iconic songs will remain in the movie, the studio is gearing up the remake which is due in March 2017 with some additional tracks.
"Beauty and the Beast" is one of the most popular classic animated movies Disney has produced. Now that the fairytale is about to be adapted in a live-action movie, the fans are expecting it to remain musical just like its animated film. That would not be a problem though as the studio will keep the remake song-filled. However, its fans and the moviegoers should expect to hear unfamiliar scores as Flick Sided says that Disney is adding three new songs to its song lists.
Alan Menken, the person behind 1991's musical fairytale, revealed during his "Artist to Artist" production at Lincoln Center that his writing partner Tim Rice has newly composed songs in store for the live-action film. According to Cinema Blend, one of the songs is entitled "Days in the Sun" which is defined as a lullaby to the palace's animated entities. This song is said to make the humans-turned-objects remember what their lives used to be before the curse was cast.
The second song is called "Forever More" which Beast is set to sing when he discovers what true love really means. This will replace the song "I Can't Love Her" which Menken describes to not fit in the scenario. Sadly, the composer did not discuss the final addition to the soundtrack but considering Menken's expertise, there is certainly nothing to worry about.
Even though Menken has already clarified that the songs from its Broadway musical will not be included in the remake, it can almost guarantee that most of the tracks from the animated movie will still be heard in the live-action version.
As per Crossmap's report, the star-studded cast of the forthcoming movie includes Emma Watson ("Harry Potter", "Noah") as the beautiful Belle, Dan Stevens ("The Guest", "The Cobbler") as the cursed Beast, Luke Evans ("Dracula Untold", "Fast & Furious 6") as the handsome Gaston, Josh Gad ("Frozen", "Pixels") as Gaston's loyal sidekick Le Fou, Ian McKellen ("X-Men", "The Lord of the Rings") as the palace's majordomo Cogsworth, Euan McGregor ("Mortdecai", "The Impossible") as the "Be My Guest"-singing Lumiere, Emma Thompson ("Saving Mr. Banks", "Nanny McPhee") as the loving Mrs. Potts, Audra McDonald ("Private Practice", "Mister Sterling") as Belle's room confidante, the wardrobe, and Kevin Kline ("Las Vegas", "My Old Lady") as the village's inventor and Belle's father, Maurice.
Directed by Bill Condon with Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky's screenplay, "Beauty and the Beast" is slated to premiere March 17, 2017.
