Huawei says ‘Yes’ on making Google Nexus 2015 alongside LG, but device sales in the West may be affected

Huawei reportedly confirmed that they are "working closely with Google" to manufacture a new Google Nexus 2015 device set to be released later this year.

Huawei confirms closely working with Google for new Nexus device

"In a bid to improve its relationship with Google and boost its profile in the West, Huawei is working on a new Nexus smartphone in close partnership with Google, a source familiar with Huawei's plans has told IBTimes UK. The source, who works for Huawei in the UK, confirmed the company was working with Google on the Nexus smartphone but was unable to talk about the specifics of the device or when it would be shipped beyond later this year," reported International Business Times UK.

Huawei may face difficulty to boost sales in the West

This confirms previous rumors about Huawei and Google partnership. However, the Chinese company is facing a potential marketing problem in selling the Gogle Nexus 2015 device, especially on their attempt to "boost its profile in the West." This was reportedly due to their not having "very much international fame." Nevertheless, it seems the company is ready as they were seen upping its game.

"A Huawei-made Nexus might sound a bit unattractive at first, but the company has been doing a lot of work to step up the quality of their products, and it's shown in their latest flagship Huawei P8," reported Phandroid.

The collaboration with Google will definitely give Huawei a break in other markets since the search engine company tapped them to develop one of their flagship smartphones.

"A Nexus phone would be a very important step for the company, as it would show the masses that they have enough respect to partner up with Google to make a premium device," added Phandroid.

An LG-made Nexus device too

However, Huawei is not the only company that Google is speculated to work with. Other reports also mentioned that LG will also be working again on a new Google Nexus 2015 handset. It should be recalled that both Google and LG previously made a partnership for a Nexus device.

"One of them will be built by LG and the other one by Huawei. The Motorola Nexus 6 successor will be an LG product, South Korean source iNews24 reported," cited Yibada (English Edition).

Hence, this means there will be two Google Nexus 2015 devices, with both running the Android M.

As for the release date, it is speculated to be around November.
