Nintendo's Super Smash Bros 4 post E3: Ryu and Pac-Man glitches uprooted by fans

By

Nintendo's pre-E3 big reveal for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS had fans at the edge of their seats in anticipation to try out the new DLC for the crossover video game franchise. Super Smash Bros series creator Masahiro Sakurai's biggest reveal in a video presentation featured the iconic Street Fighter ® character Ryu as the first ever Street Fighter ® crossover character in the series.

Along with the classic Street Fighter II ® look, Ryu was made available with his own classic Suzaku Castle stage, and the classic button combinations to power up Ryu's Hadoken and Shoryuken. While the Super Smash Bros have been successful in developing crossover characters, it was perhaps not anticipated that the classic Street Fighter ® character Ryu would also come with a classic "glitch" in the form of infinite combos.

Dedicated "geeky news" website iDigitalTimes reveals in a video that Ryu is able to repeatedly use his Focus Attack to affect Donkey Kong and Charizard in order to render high damage and keep their opponent from responding quickly. Then, Ryu can easily knock them out of the stage with a classic Shoryuken or a finishing smash attack move.

The video's creator Dezmu helpfully mentions that opponents can roll out of the way when Ryu decides to take the advantage, and that the combo attack can only affect Donkey Kong and Charizard because of the size of their hit box. Game series creator Masahiro Sakurai was probably not aware of the combo, otherwise the series would have announced the character's KO move for public knowledge.

In similar news, Polygon also reveals a Super Smash Bros glitch for Wii U using Pac-Man. The glitch is revealed to be an unbeatable move that works across all opponents. Pac-Man places his trampoline at the right spot and then subsequently jumps and changes forms will make his opponent fall right through the stage.

Glitches are good fun to play while they last, but will most likely be repaired by the next Super Smash Bros patch update. Super Smash Bros 4 is available on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS consoles.
