Following the well-received "Mad Max: Fury" which debuted last May 15, another post-apocalyptic action indie film is set to hit the silver screen by the end of this summer. Epic Pictures Group has scheduled the Sundance Film Festival crowd pleaser "Turbo Kid" an August 28 release; and to stir up the excitement of the fans, it has released the full-length trailer of the upcoming 80's-inspired action movie as well.

According to Slash Film, Epic Pictures Group has recently given the Sundance indie film "Turbo Kid" an August 28 premiere date. Along with this announcement, it has also unveiled a 2-minute excerpt of the film, which features gore, absurdity and a Mad Max: Fury-like motorcycle-riding guy.

"Turbo Kid", as per Indie Wire's report, is set in post-apocalyptic retro 1997 where an orphan struggles through drought and a nuclear winter while crossing the Wasteland on his motorcycle. When a minion of the evil overlord Zeus captures her pink-haired best friend, the Kid gathers the bravery of his comic book hero and gears up to seek justice unto his archnemesis, his buzzsaw-handed sidekick, Skeletron, and his vicious masked army.

It is described by many spectators as Mad Max in highschool due to its similarity to the Warner Bros. flick. The retro sci-fi flick stars Munro Chambers, Laurence LeBoeuf, Michael Ironside, Edwin Wright, Aaron Jeffery and Romano Orzari. According to First Showing, "Turbo Kid" is co-written and co-directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell & Yoann-Karl Whissell of "Demonitron: The Sixth Dimension" and "Total Fury".

It first debuted in Sundance Film Festival which was held in the Park City at Midnight category last January 22 until February 1. Despite its low-budget background, the film did well on the fest's circuit, gaining solid and positive reviews out of its premiere and winning both jury and audience rewards at SXSW.
