Fans of "Grey's Anatomy" are going to be upset and happy at the same time as Jessica Capshaw already signed a contract that would make her be in the show's upcoming seasons but Sarah Drew's April will reportedly not be the new chief in the show.
The ABC series will be coming back this fall and the season 12 of the show and everyone is wondering who will be taking on Richard's post, played by James Pickens Jr., and it has been announced that Sarah Drew, who plays the role of April Kepner, will not be taking on that role anytime soon. According to IBTimes, the Shonda Rhimes-created series has not yet revealed who will be the new chief although Catherine, played by Debbie Allen, is insistent to let her daughter-in-law, April, take on the said position.
According to the report, in the season 11 finale of "Grey's Anatomy," Catherine was very insistent on making April the Chief of Surgery but the latter declines the offer as she does not want to get sucked into hospital politics. She would rather save more lives than be in such a high post.
Drew said in an interview that she feels her character does not want to be the Chief of Surgery as there is so much paperwork and that April actually wants to get her hands dirty than be stuck in the office. Drew added, "She wants to be in traumatic situations, fixing and healing people. She has found herself to be a healer in a pretty dramatic way that goes beyond being a surgeon."
It is not yet clear who is taking on the position as Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson, was asked by Richard to take on his position but she has to look for another candidate as Catherine has to approve it. It could be Arizona, played by Jessica Capshaw, the publication added. Speaking of Capshaw, she already signed a contract extension with the show and she has revealed big things will happen to her character in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12.
According to Inquisitr, Arizona could have a shot with Callie again as they will have more opportunities to work things out in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12.
Jessica Capshaw will be one of the regulars and actresses to lok forward to in the "Grey's Anatomy" series. A new chief is also something fans could watch out for as the sees returns for its new season.
The upcoming season of the ABC show will be premiering this September 24.
