Project CARS 2 development has been set in motion, once again through a crowd-funding system. The original game, which just released last May, had the same support, which became very successful. With that, Slightly Mad Studios is confident that avid gamers of the racing genre will extend their support to make the sequel happen at the most efficient timeline, while still having revamped gameplay and features.
The contribution for Project CARS 2 is being made through the World of Mass Development crowd-funding platform, as noted in a recent games report. Towards the end of June, the game has already raised almost $500,000, where the goal is somewhere over 11 million.
As fans of the franchise would know, the original title was released by Slightly Mad Studios in May of this year for current generation consoles, as well as the PC. Considering that it was made possible through the pitching in of players, the title's campaign goes by saying that they hope to "once again allow gamers around the world to help shape and develop an AAA racing title."
The message continues, "giving every interested gamer the chance to follow the development process from up close by getting access to regular development builds and vote on key decisions regarding the title's development."
While a sequel is definitely in the works, the first Project CARS will not be left out as tweeted on social media. The post on the official Twitter account of the game goes, "Project CARS will continue to see massive updates, features, and content through 2015 & beyond. Project CARS 2 will happen simultaneously."
Project CARS 2 is starting to gather its building blocks through a crowd-funding system. There are different types of memberships to avail, should racing gamers wish to support the Slightly Mad Studios sequel. The original title, on the other hand, will continue to receive downloadable. As for what these DLCs would provide will hopefully be ready by the next update.
