Thor 3: Ragnarok Update: Kenneth Branagh not directing the film? Tom Hiddleston says he's lucky to play Loki

Thor and Loki are set to reappear in the big screen for Thor 3: Ragnarok and a relationship between Loki and the Enchantress might eventually happen. Actor Tom Hiddleston says he's lucky to play the role of the well-liked villain, Loki. Meanwhile, producer Kevin Feige revealed that Kenneth Branagh will not be sitting in the director's chair for the franchise's third installment.

Actor Tom Hiddleston, who plays the role Thor's evil brother, Loki previously revealed that a relationship between the Enchantress and Loki might be explored in the film, "When I was first reading the comics, the relationship with the Enchantress was one of the really fun things I thought would be good to explore, and may have even pitched it to Kevin Feige at some point," he said.

"Because she is as sneaky and as untrustworthy as he was. They basically had a really fantastic and twisted relationship until they both say, 'You know what? I don't trust you as far as I can throw you. It's over.' Because they keep betraying each other, in a way. So it could be good," he added.

Hiddleston also recently revealed that he's grateful to Marvel for letting him play the role of the twisted villain. Playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has greatly helped Hiddleston reach his global popularity and success, along with actor Chris Hemsworth. "Within the film industry, the success of the Marvel films has given me incredible opportunities to do other work that I'm very proud of. Besides that, I'm just grateful to have been given the chance to play a remarkable character: larger-than-life, deep, complex and relentlessly good fun. He's the god of mischief - in a cinematic universe of superheroes, there's no-one else I'd rather be." He said.

"I had to find his smile, his innate love of anarchy and chaos. I had to make his pain real. Great villains are born from tragic circumstances. They become dangerous when their vulnerability hardens into vengeance," Hiddleston explained.

Pertaining to Loki's twisted psychology, Hiddleston added. "The cornerstone of his psychology for me was the scene between Loki and Odin in the vault in Kenneth Branagh's Thor, when Loki discovers his true lineage for the first time. It was one of the very first scenes to be shot, and what happened in that scene became an anchor of the whole character. I understood all his motivations after that."

Meanwhile producer Kevin Fiege revealed that Kenneth Branagh who directed the 2011 Thor movie, will not be directing Thor 3: Ragnarok. He also announced that the film's director will be revealed soon. "Probably towards the end of the summer we would announce a filmmaker and a writer. Maybe the same person, I don't know, maybe two different people," he said.

Thor 3: Ragnarok is written by Craig Kyle, and Christopher Yost, and will start filming in 2016. More details are expected about the movie are expected to be released in the coming months. It has been slated for release in theaters on November 2017.
