Conan King of the Barbarians will embark on another adventure as actor Arnold Schwazenegger revealed the concept behind the upcoming Legend of Conan. Schwarzenegger said that the script is great and that the upcoming movie might kick start a new cinematic universe.
At a press junket for the movie Terminator: Genisys, Arnold Shwarzenegger dished what he has in mind for the character of Conan. The actor said that Conan will be seen as an old king who will throw away his self-earned kingdom and go to the mountains. "I was hoping that the idea of Conan having been king for a long time, then just threw it all away and went into retirement and went off into the mountains...That whole idea always appealed to me. Then of course he gets asked back because of some hideous and unbelievable things that are happening to the kingdom. So that's when the battle begins again." he said.
The upcoming movie will reportedly be a sequel to Richard Fleischer's 1984 film, Conan the Destroyer. Also according to Schwarzenegger, the movie already has a script, and turned out great, but still " needs some tweakage".
If ever Legend of Conan turns out to be a successful sequel, it might serve as a kick starter for a new cinematic universe that will include Conan, Kull the Conqueror, Solomon Kane, and the rest. According to Frederik Malmberg who will also produce the film, Legend of Conan will be set 30 years after and will now center on the now older Conan, "It's 30 years after the original film, and he's facing his mortality and how a legend deals with the fact he's older, and how does he want to go out," he said.
Schwarzenegger will reportedly focus more on the Legend of Conan after all he fulfills his responsibilities for Terminator: Genisys. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
