“Beauty and the Beast” Live-Action Update: 3 Ways Disney retells the classic tale as old as time

By

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is the next princess classic tale that will take over the threshold of modern cinema with real actors and advanced production setting. Gearing up for a retelling that is meant to woo the hearts of viewers-both old and new, Disney preps up three ways to re-divulge the tale as old as time.

It will be true as it can be

In the original 1991 movie, majority of the film was focused on the dismay of Belle as she was imprisoned in the haunted mansion with The Beast. One of the major but truer changes the live action film is going to add is the focus on Beast's demise for love. According to Comic Book.com, composer Alan Menken revealed that apart from maintaining the original songs of the film, three new songs will be added into the lineup.

Working together with Tim Rice, the first song addition is "Forever More"-a song delivered by Beast as he finally understands the meaning of true, unconditional and selfless love. It is based on the original Broadway show song, "If I Can't Love Her." The second one, "Days in the Sun," is a reminiscent lullaby about all of the mansion's enchanted objects and how they remembered their lives before the curse was cast upon them. The title of the third song is yet to be revealed.

It will have just a little change-small, to say the least

Emma Watson was the first one that got confirmed for the role of Belle. Then Dan Stevens (The Beast), Luke Evans (Gaston), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Ian Mckellen (Cogsworth), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts) and Kevin Kline (Maurice) followed. Looking at such an impressive celebrity line-up, one can easily detect the harmony in their musical backgrounds. Based on Cinema Blend's feature, the movie will be more musically driven compared to its predecessor.

Its creation will be as certain as the sun, rising in the east

"Beauty and The Beast" live action is set to get its production rolling around May of this year in London. Originally, the film was supposed to be set for a 2016 release but Disney wanted to take its time in the recreation of the classic romantic tale. The film is now slated to open on March 17, 2017.

Looking back, it was Tim Burton who jumpstarted the live-action recreation of the classic Disney tales with his whimsical 2010 version of "Alice in the Wonderland." He is then followed by 2015's "Maleficent," this year's "Cinderella," and 2016's "The Jungle Book." 2017 then beholds the opening for "Beauty and The Beast" with exciting twists from the original tale as old as time.
