Leica Q is Leica's first ever full-frame camera with a prime lens. The all-new staggering $4,250 24-megapixel camera comes in with a 3-inch, 1.04 million-dot touch screen high resolution LCD display and built-in WiFi module fit for both amateur and professional photographers.
The latest Leica Q camera (Typ 116) is jam-packed with notable specifications and features including a full-frame CMOS sensor, an ISO range of up to 50,000 NFC and a contrast-defect autofocus system. Its custom-built sensor was designed perfectly for the Summilux 28m f/1.7 fixed lens, equipped with three rings that enable users to manually control aperture, focus and macro. Although it doesn't have an optical zoom, users can opt for either a 35mm or 50mm crop mode.
Aside from getting high quality photos, users can enjoy recording high-definition videos with its 1080p video-recording feature at 30 or 60 fps, a 1,280 x 960 electronic viewfinder, mechanical and electronic shutter types. Available for only $4,250, users will enjoy the slick-looking Leica Q, together with a free copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6.
For its design, Leica Q has a slick medium-sized structure, covered with magnesium alloy and matte black which give the camera its sophisticated and premium look. There is also a customized resting place for your thumb while users can comfortably take photos. Neither being lightweight nor too heavy, the Leica Q weighs about23 ounces (640 grams), with its mass evenly distributed throughout the device. Meanwhile, users need not to worry about battery life for their German manufacturer promises a quoted of 300 shots, which is expected to reduced faster only when video recording.
Leica has always been known for releasing expensive yet astounding cameras. It had a philosophy to "combine what is technically possible with what makes sense photographically," a concept epitomised long ago by Oskar Barnack which created the company's groundwork on 35 mm photography. This concept has been central to the development of the latest Leica Q, the company's first ever camera to feature full-frame sensor camera fixed-focus lens.
