HTC One M9 Developer Edition users need no longer to wait for faster and better enhancements in their smartphones. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now available for download in the said device.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is reported to be similar to the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Sprint users, which was released earlier this month. The previous update came in the form of custom ROM. However, for unlocked HTC One M9 users, this update is expected to increase the HTC One M9 Developer Edition's overall performance and stability. To be specific, the update is designed to boost and improve battery life, data, camera, and call performance according to the HTC's official website.
Also stated in HTC's official change log, the latest update will automatically bring up the devices to Android 5.1, while the firmware will also feature temperature management optimization. As mentioned, this update was also customized to address overheating issues. The software enhancement shall improve the device's heat management, which is powered by the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor.
The whole Android 5.1.1 Lollipop system update requires approximately 800MB of storage. Users who are willing to avail the update are therefore advised to download the huge update via WiFi for a faster internet connection and to avoid excessive mobile data charges. HTC officials have said that through the process, users can expect their smartphones to heat a little as their devices process the package and install the patch. Meanwhile, developers reminded users that they need not to be alarmed.
The HTC One M9 Developer Edition is another variant of HTC's flagship One M9. It is an SIM-unlocked version that has an unlocked bootloader for those who would like to tinker with ROMs and make apps. It is a special version wherein users who are well-versed in modifying Android beyond the basics are free to enjoy full developer's experience.
