A "Pinocchio" live-action movie will be coming in theatres soon to be created by actor Robert Downey Jr.'s production company. Downey's friend and sixth-time Oscar nominee Paul Thomas Anderson was chosen to write the script.

Team Downey, Robert Downey Jr.'s production and Warner Bros. will team up for "Pinocchio", a live-action movie about the classic children's story. The plan has actually been in the works by Downey for a long time now. According to Stack, Downey has been tweaking the script for the past 6 months. Screenwriter Michael Mitnick of last year's youth adult adaptation of "The Giver" wrote the latest draft of the movie.

Downey's friend Paul Thomas Anderson, who won an Oscar for the epic drama "There Will Be Blood", has been reported to continue writing the movie's screenplay. Anderson has written and directed a number of convincing and creative movies. In fact, Downey was to star in his crime dramedy "Inherent Vice" but did not push through because of other commitments such as "Avengers: Age of Ultron". His role will be taken by Joaquin Phoenix instead. There is no confirmation yet though if Anderson will direct "Pinocchio".

Meanwhile, Downey will play the role of Gepetto, the creator of the wood-carved puppet Pinocchio who transforms into a human and whose nose grew longer and larger every time he lied. The Adventures of Pinocchio is an 1883 novel by Italian Carlo Collodi.

This is not the first time that a movie, TV show or other media about "Pinocchio" was made. According to Gulf News, in 2002, Roberto Benigni starred and directed in "Pinocchio", which was dubbed by Queen Latifah, Kevin James and David Suchet.

No other details about "Pinocchio" is out yet but fans are hoping that this classical tale will be something many will look forward to.
