'X-Men: Apocalypse' Update: Fox Reveals Trailer At Comic-Con Featuring Film's Brand New Mutants

By

20th Century Fox has recently revealed a 3-minute trailer for next year's superhero extravaganza, "X-Men: Apocalypse", featuring the franchise's brand new mutants. The upcoming conclusion of the "X-Men" trilogy is scheduled to debut May next year.

It was not only the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" panel that wowed the Comic-Con International: San Diego attendees over the weekend, but the Fox panel as well. After revealing the first kickass trailer of Ryan Reynolds' R-rated, cursing, and wisecracking film "Deadpool", the studio has unveiled the teaser of the "X-Men: Apocalypse", giving its fans the first look at some brand new mutants -both good and evil.

Among the new faces featured in the 2-minute clip are the following: Sophie Turner ("Barely Lethal", "Game of Thrones") as the telepathic Jean Grey who is seen in the video having visions of an imminent and alarming apocalypse; Kody Smit-Mcphee ("Let Me In", "Dawn of the Planet Apes") as Nightcrawler who was featured lurking in the shadows; Alexandra Shipp ("House of Anubis", "Drumline: A New Beat") as the silver-haired Storm; and Oscar Isaac ("Ex Machina", "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens") as the titular ancient villain, Apocalypse. Joining them in the trailer are franchise veterans Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult who reprise their roles of Mystique, Professor X, and Beast respectively in the upcoming movie.

Set in the 1980s, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to conclude the trilogy that started with 2011's "X-Men: First Class", followed by 2014's "X-Men: Days of the Future Past". As previously reported, the upcoming film also stars Michael Fassbender ("Macbeth") as Magneto, Rose Byrne ("Neighbors") as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till ("Wolves") as Havok, Evan Peters ("The Lazarus Effect") as Quicksilver, Olivia Munn ("Mortdecai"), Ben Hardy ("EastEnders") as Angel, Tye Sheridan ("Mud") as Cyclops, and Lana Condor as Jubilee.

Helmed by Bryan Singer based on Simon Kinberg's screenplay, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to hit the big screen on May 27, 2016.
