To stir up the excitement of the fans, "Arrow" star Stephen Amell has recently revealed that his character in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" is "not your father's or your younger self's Casey Jones". The highly anticipated live-action film is slated to open in theaters June 3, next year.
The role of the "Arrow" star Stephen Amell in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" has been one of the biggest news for TMNT fans. It was noted by Variety that a few months back, the 34-year-old Canadian actor has been tapped to play the role of Casey Jones for Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes' upcoming sequel. Fortunately, for those who are curious about his character, Amell has recently discussed his role in the sequel to 2014's "Ninja Turtles".
In an interview with IGN Live at Comic-Con, Amell has revealed that the Casey Jones he is portraying has a different personality from its comic book version. "It's certainly not your father's or your younger self's Casey Jones, but that's because we meet him at a very different time in his development," Amell said. According to him, his character is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love. "When things go awry, [and] when he goes through the normal methods of what someone would do when they're [a] law-abiding citizen and he's met with laughter and scorn... he decides to take things into his own hands," he explained.
Jones is known to be the loner that became an ally of the turtles. According to Cinema Blend, he lost his parents at a young age to the members of the street gang, Purple Dragons. This unfortunate event has made him the harsh and violent figure that he is known today. Apart from that, his character is also noted to be the love interest of April O'Neil who is portrayed by Megan Fox ("Jennifer's Body", This is 40") in the live-action version.
Meanwhile, the film co-stars Will Arnett, William Fichtner and newcomers Stephen Farrelly, Gary Anthony Williams, Tyler Perry, and Brian Tee. Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Noel Fisher will reprise their roles as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo (Johnny Knoxville did the voice), and Michelangelo.
Directed by "Earth To Echo's" David Green, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" is scheduled to be released in US on June 3, 2016.
