‘Star Trek Beyond’ Update: Idris Elba confirmed as a new villain; Fans may be given opportunity to appear in the upcoming film

After appearing in Star Trek Beyond's promotional video for charity, "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" star Idris Elba has been confirmed to join the cast of the said movie sequel but with only a small role. One lucky Star Trek fan and a friend will also be given a chance to appear in the upcoming film while other surprises await those who donate to the cause.

In the video shown which aims to raise funds for charity, "Star Trek Beyond" cast such as Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana were among those who appealed for donation. Towards the end, Elba surprised viewers by appearing and even doing a break dance. Elba is reported to play as a villain, says The Sydney Morning Herald.

The said promo video encourages people to donate $10 or more for a chance to be chosen to appear in the movie by just walking in the background. Mirror says that Star Trek fans have until September 1 to get the part. Nine organizations all over the world will benefit from the donations. Add to this, 6 more winners will be able to get a tour of the ship, meet the cast as well as new characters in their set in Vancouver. The promo says it will give the winner "a chance to boldly go where no man or woman has gone before" in a posh starship. Those interested can visit Omaze.com/Startrek in order to join.

Detroit Free Press adds that the winning fan can experience an alien transformation. The causes were chosen by the mentioned stars as well as other casts of "Star Trek Beyond" John Cho, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban and Susan Nimoy on behalf of her late husband and "Star Trek" legend Leonard Nimoy who died just this year.

"Star Trek Beyond" will bring viewers beyond Earth on July 8, 2016 in cinemas.
