Star Wars Commander just got its biggest update yet. In the days leading to the update, Star Wars Commander has been issuing in-base alerts that would put a hold on all in-game battle. The new update which launched July 16 overhauls the whole app, with a new chapter, new missions, and the ability to relocate the whole base.
The new update has a new icon, a new loading screen, and a whole new Star Wars Commander. In Star Wars Commander Chapter II - Worlds in Conflict, players will have the ability to explore the galaxy through the added Galactic Map. GameSpot notes that Star Wars Commander is notable in that it has been a regularly maintained and updated free-to-play mobile game that allow players command of a whole base for either the Rebellion or the Empire. As a base fighting for the Empire, players will receive a transmission from Darth Vader himself, imploring them to explore the galaxy and bring the fight to the other worlds in the Galaxy like Dandoran, Er'Kit, Yavin 4 and Hoth.
Disney Interactive Vice President of Studio Operations Nate Etter spoke with Polygon about the new overhaul to Star Wars Commander. The Worlds of Conflict expansion aims to unlock the Star Wars galaxy to its 18 million players. Players are now not only able to explore the Galaxy, their bases are no longer rooted to Tatooine alone. The major decision to expand player capabilites were made upon feedback from the players themselves.
The iTunes Preview Page for Star Wars Commander gives a detailed account of the update in Version 3.0.2. The new Planetary Command building will allow players to scout out and relocate a base in a new world. The new Galaxy Map will allow players to further explore the galaxy and gather much needed intel, including the state of the Worlds in conflict. World Conflicts will feature the worlds of Dandoran, Er'Kit, Yavin 4, and Hoth, and the ongoing tournament for each. Battle with rivals in each world will earn additional Loot Bonuses.
