Rosamund Pike is attached to star as a CIA agent in Tony Gilroy's political action-thriller "High Wire Act". The "Gone Girl" star is joining previously-announced Jon Hamm in the forthcoming film.
Jon Hamm's contract with "Mad Men" might have barred him from starring in David Fincher's 2014 thriller "Gone Girl," but it looks like the 44-year-old actor will still get to star alongside Rosamund Pike after all. Deadline reports that the Academy Award nominee is attached to star in Radar Pictures' thriller flick "High Wire Act" alongside the "Mad Men" actor.
"High Wire Act" is set in 1980's Beirut and centers a former United States diplomat Mason Skiles (Hamm) called back to service to save a former colleague from a group of terrorists that also possibly killed his family. In the upcoming film, Pike will play the role of a CIA field agent who is responsible for the success of Skiles' mission as well as keeping him alive.
This new thriller now adds to Pike's list of projects which includes Amma Asante's "A United Kingdom" directed by Amma Asante ("Belle", "Unforgettable") and Anova Pictures' "The Bends" directed by emerging filmmaker Jean Luc Herbulot. She is also slated to appear in Echo Lake Entertainment/Film Nation's World War II thriller "HHHH" helmed by Cédric Jimenez ("The Connection") and starring Jack O'Connell ("300: Rise of an Empire") and Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland", "Jane Eyre").
As for Hamm, the fans can catch him in David Wain's forthcoming "Wet Hot American Summer" revival for Netflix and early next year in Greg Mottola's indie comedy "Keeping Up With the Joneses".
Meanwhile, "High Wire Act" is written by Tony Gilroy who is also producing alongside Mike Weber and Ted Field. "The Machinist" and "The Call" director Brad Anderson will be helming the thriller flick. Schiff/Audino is handling the casting while Good Universe is managing the international sales.
