'Suicide Squad' vs. 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' trailer battle: Who wins?

By

David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" has outdone Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in terms of trailer views. The team of super villains is slated to hit the big screen August next year, following the clash of superheroes' debut on March.

Just because "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" come from the same universe, does not mean that both DC comics superhero flicks are not competing each other anymore. The villains might always end up losers in the movies but it looks like they are winning for the first time -at least when it comes to trailer views. As of Monday, Comic Book Movie reports that "Suicide Squad" has already racked up over 36.1 million views on the popular video sharing website, beating BVS which only garnered 34.9 million.

It was noted that the full-length trailer of the Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill-starring film was voluntarily released after its debut at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con last week. Not only did it feature both titular superheroes, but also the rest of the movie's iconic characters which include Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luther. The David Ayer-helmed flick on the other hand, was released two days after the BVS video was rolled out to the public. The 3-minute footage gave the fans their first look on the DC Universe's supervillains, particularly the most anticipated character, the Joker.

Despite the 2-day headstart the former had, it looks like most fans are more curious about the latter film. However, this does not mean that the trailer with the winning views automatically makes its movie the better one. Besides, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" had already unveiled its first trailer back in April - a factor that might have affected the results of the said competition.

BVS co-stars Amy Adams ("American Hustle", "Enchanted"), Gal Gadot ("Furious 6"), and Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network", "Now You See Me") and premieres worldwide on March 25, 2016.

"Suicide Squad" on the other hand, stars Jared Leto ("Dallas Buyers Club", "30 Seconds to Mars") ,Will Smith ("Independence Day", "Bad Boys", "Men In Black"), Joel Kinnaman ("Robocop", "The Killing", "Safe House"), Margot Robbie ("Neighbours", "The Wolf of Wall Street", "About Time") Jai Courtney ("Divergent", "Jack Reacher", "A Good Day to Die Hard"), Cara Delevingne ("Anna Karenina", "Grand Theft Auto V"), Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ("Thor: the Dark World", "Lost", "The Bourne Identity"), Jay Hernandez ("Hostel", "Quarantine", "The Rookie"), and Adam Beach ("Cowboys & Aliens", "Flags of our Fathers", "Windtalkers"), and is slated to open in cinemas globally August 5, next year.
