Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake shall hit the consoles and screens very soon, which may be featuring an Advent Children arc, as trailer details suggest.

After the anticipating release of Final Fantasy VII remake in the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, fans have been expecting much as Director Tetsuya Nomura stated: "Final Fantasy VII is special, and we can't 'exceed' the game by simply making the graphics nicer. That's not a thing to be excited about. Precisely because it's a full remake, I want to challenge what's fun and what's possible now." Such statement has attracted fan speculations regarding the game play, storyline, or possibly new characters, as Destructoid thought as well.

The modernised remake of the classic role playing game which debuted with Sony's Play Station had caused online hysteria of either excitement or speculation. In its official teaser trailer, the narrator uttered these words: "Long ago, we looked upon a foreboding sky...", to be construed as pertaining to those who have been calling for a remake for years.

The Guardian speculates that such statement, in relation to the first 23 seconds of the video, suggests a time frame other than Final Fantasy VII's period, which may even be set long after the Advent Children arc. Such speculation traces its roots on the idea that South Edge, which was shown in the video, is not a place in Final Fantasy VII. It sprawled in the outskirts of the ravaged Midgar as a refugee camp right after the city had been uninhabitable for which the Advent Children took place two years after while the Edge is half built. The skyscrapers and the crowded city manifest an established city for quite a long time while the withering flower may have symbolized the city's degrading ecology.

It could also be observed that children shown playing in what looked like a Sector 6 park, wielding a replica of Cloud's iconic sword, which clearly hints that the setting is already in the remake phase. Moreover, some details of objects in the video manifests events of the Advent Children; the angel statue, the flower, and the puddle.

Despite the issues regarding the momentary exclusivity for PS4 to aid Sony's sales, lots of fans are still drawn in anticipation for the remake of their favourite RPG. IGN, through their interview with Shinji Hashimoto of Square Enix, reports that the remake is not just a mere remaster, but an overhaul for the fans to yearn.

Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake will soon be available for Play Station 4. Exact release dates are yet to be announced.
