Microsoft's new flagship mobile devices, the Lumia 940 and 940 Xl, have been the topic of interest on the internet for quite some time. The Windows powered phones, codenamed Cityman and Talkman, are said to change the consumers outlook with its new and unique features.
According to International Business Times, Microsoft's flagship phones will feature an advance security system, in the form of an iris scanner. The unique security system is Microsoft's answer to competitors' fingerprint scan technology. This is probably a wise move for Microsoft not to follow the trend that other companies are setting up. In turn, the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL will come out as a unique mobile phone.
Windows Central reports that the first accurate news about the Cityman and Talkman was on April 17 when Blog Jack released precise details about the two devices. Further on the report stated that both phones' specs are subject to change, thus the following information should be treated with caution.
The Microsoft Lumia 940 or Talkman is expected to launch as the Lumia 950. The mobile device claimed to hold a 5.2-inch WQHD OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and the Iris scanner for Windows Hello.
The mobile phone can hold 32GB worth of internal memory space, microSD slot for additional storage space, a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera, a 5-megapixel wide-angle front shooter and a 3,000 mAh battery. The Lumia 950 bragged its USB Type-C, Qi wireless charger and a smart cover which will be sold separate from the mobile device.
On the other hand, the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL or Cityman will be released as the Lumia 950 XL. The phone was built to be slightly bigger and better than the Lumia 950 and nothing else. Therefore, there are only a few aspects of the Lumia 950 XL device that differs from the Lumia 950.
One such difference is the 5.7-inch WQHD OLED display. Another difference included the slightly stronger 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, with the same size in RAM, internal memory storage, a microSD slot for more data storage space, and a smart cover which is sold separately. The Lumia 950 XL however, holds a more powerful 3,300 mAh battery, triple LED flash for the rear camera, 1mm silver ring on the back camera pod, a surface pen/stylus, and aluminium side buttons.
As for the build of the new flagship phones, Tech Times wrote that rumors are conflicting. There some reports that said the Lumia 950 and 950 XL would have a metallic design, others it would be made of matte polycarbonate bodies, in black and white color options.
The Microsoft Lumia 940/950 and the Lumia 940 XL/950 XL are rumored to be unveiled during the IFA 2015 conference in Berlin this coming September 4 to September 9. Both phones are both expected to be on the market by October or November.
