Mortal Kombat X tops the Top 10 bestselling games of 2015 followed by other big games, Grand Auto Theft V, Battlefield Hardline, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Minecraft, taking the second to fifth spots, respectively.
In a report last month, Fortune published the ten bestselling games of 2015, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Mortal Kombat X leaving Take-Two Interactive's Grand Theft Auto V and Electronic Arts' Battlefield Hardline and even the insanely popular sanbox game, Minecraft, behind the race.
Although, It is not clear if DLC is taken into account. The report did not also include digital sales from Playstation Store and other digital stores. It is also reported that while Mortal Kombat X still enjoys a strong fan base, the game is not expected to be the best-selling title in the first half of 2015.
But with the latest Mortal Kombat installment, gruesome fatalities that left much to the imagination of the gamers due to the limitations of the gaming consoles in the past can now be done with the latest technologies in gaming.
"By upping the gore in the game's fatalities, Mortal Kombat X had the best launch in the history of the franchise-and that created buzz that kept sales strong," states Fortune.
However, more than two decades after Mortal Kombat was caught in a controversy back in 1992 when U.S. government interfered because of its violence content, as Fortune reports, the violence in the game is no longer an issue.
"Now it's just something we've grown accustomed to... it's no longer a selling point, or a point of contention, from a society that has grown accustomed to violence in everything from cartoons to live action television to feature films," the site reported back in May.

Mortal Kombat X, which is launched on April 14, is developed by NetherRealm Studios for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
