Producer Lioner Wigram says Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur" will be "huge and spectacular". The movie will reportedly feature football star David Beckham as a "Blackleg Leader". Starring Charlie Hunnam as the titular king, the film is slated to open in theaters July, next year.

In an interview with IGN while doing publicity rounds for their current project "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," Lionel Wigram and Guy Ritchie discussed their next film collaboration, "Kinights of the Round Table: King Arthur". Wigram teased that the film will be "the coolest King Arthur movie" one will see. "It is a huge, spectacular, sword and sorcery fantasy," he said. "It's our dream version of what we would have liked to see Excalibur be." According to the filmmaker, they focused more on telling how the titular royalty became a King instead of trying to do the whole story in one.

The upcoming film will offer a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend based on Thomas Mallory's 1485 piece "Le Morte d'Arthur". As per Coming Soon, it will feature the 6th Century King and his fight against the Saxon invaders. Charlie Hunnam of "Sons and Anarchy" will star as King Arthur alongside "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides" actor Astrid Berges-Frisbey. Jude Law ("Sherlock Holmes") and Djimon Honsou will also appear in the upcoming movie.

Surprisingly, David Beckham has also landed a role in the film. Citing IMDB, the Dailymail reports that the 40-year-old hunk will play as Blackleg leader in the Ritchie's movie. The outlet notes that Beckham has a close relationship with the filmmaker having been one of the A-list guests in Ritchie's wedding last Thursday. This will be the second film the retired football athlete will star in the director's films. He is set to make a cameo in Ritchie's "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." which is due in August.

Meanwhile, "Knights at the Round Table: King Arthur" is penned by Joby Harold, who is producing the film with Akiva Goldsman, Tony Tunnell, and Ritchie himself. It has begun filming this week for a July 22, 2016 release.
