Hidetaka Miyazaki reveals ‘Dark Souls 3’ Is The ‘Turning Point’ Of The Franchise

According to series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, "Dark Souls 3" is the "turning point" in the franchise. The latest action RPG instalment in the "Dark Souls" series is set to launch in early 2016 and will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The expectations for "Dark Souls 3" have been raised into a higher level. However, the creator himself is competent that the latest instalment will set the bar high for the "Dark Souls" series. In a recent interview with Game Spot, the series creator and appointed president of From Software confidently said that "'Dark Souls 3' is actually the turning point for the franchise." When asked if he will expand the franchise to sci-fi and or mech genres, Miyazaki replied: "'Dark Souls' is my life's work. Everything I came up with is based on my personal preferences." He also added that he might consider the expansion but gladly "wants the Miyazaki Touch in them" rather than to apply the "Souls" framework.

Before he became president on May 2014, Miyazaki served the company in directoral and design for the "Demon's Souls," "Dark Souls," and "Bloodborne." Following his appooinment, Miyazaki focuses to launch "several new projects" although he did not discuss further plans in detail. "I do want to work on something new," he said. "I'm pleased to hear people are interested in seeing that."

Fans can expect a lot of changes in "Dark Souls 3" as compared to the series' games. Miyazaki told Digital Spy that the latest instalment will feature fewer yet bigger and more complex areas. The game's developer announced that lesser maps will be expected of the game however they will be more complicated and 3D in nature. Miyazaki also assured gamers that DS3 will not be the last of the series.

Meanwhile, the latest trailer and gameplay of Dark Souls 3 have been revealed. According to iDitigal Times, a 20-minute gameplay was featured during the Gamescom 2015 at Cologne, Germany. The demo, a boss battle, allowed gamers to witness an in-game clip for the very first time. From Software and Bandai Namco arranged the short teaser video that left fans wanting more.

DS3 will challenge players into fighting new vicious beasts, avoid traps and explore hidden secrets in the post-apocalyptic world.

Dark Souls 3 is will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC starting early 2016.
