‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Updates: Secret screening received with standing ovation; New Batman Trilogy in the works with Ben Affleck in Lead role?

By

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' was reportedly screened for Warner Bros. executives and crew last week and it was met with a standing ovation, with commendations for Ben Affleck's performance as Batman. A new Batman trilogy is allegedly in the works to keep Affleck in the franchise.

According to Den of Geek, a private screening of a cut from the upcoming film took place last August 6, 2015 for review from studio executives and film crew. Zack Snyder's film was so good it even received a standing ovation from its audience.

Warner Bros. was also reported to make deals with Affleck for three future standalone movies since they were so impressed with his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman that they just had to extend the franchise he was carrying.

Apparently, this secret deal will span 10 years or so as the DC extended universe will revolve around his character. This all seems too good to be true. Several media outlets have tried to debunk the spectacular rumor - some agreeing with the help of 'clues' and others saying the reports lacked basis.

What Culture commented that the report must be taken lightly as there has been no official confirmation of the screening that took place. It could also be possible that Warner Bros. perpetuated the rumor themselves as part of their marketing campaign and exposure strategy for the DC extended universe, the studio's biggest asset, before the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' launch next year.

A contrasting report from Screen Crush seemed to be in favor of the rumors saying that the deal wouldn't come as a surprise since Affleck and Warner Bros. have been working together on the former's films for a while now. Affleck's directorial debuts, 'The Town' and 'Argo, were distributed by the studio.

Warner Bros. has delayed the release of his upcoming two films 'The Accountant' that he stars in, and 'Live By Night' that he himself directed. The article linked the delay with the possibility of Affleck's new deal with Warner Bros., which would definitely be more of an asset to the studio.

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is an upcoming live-action comic book adaptation to be released on March 25, 2016. It will be the second movie in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) following 'Man of Steel' in 2013, and precede the much awaited 'Suicide Squad' on 2016. It stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
