Dreamworks Animation has released the first official poster of "Kung Fu Panda 3", featuring the film's main character, Po, as well as some of the new pandas that will be introduced in the upcoming movie. The third installment of the Kung Fu-themed animated flick is scheduled to open in cinemas January, next year.
The poster which was launched via Moviefone provides an initial rendered look at the Panda Village where the new Panda characters will reportedly be first seen. The bottom part of the photo shows some of the key characters in the franchise, including Po's father, Li, Mei Mei, and the young Bao. The character's third big-screen adventures will see Po and his ling-lost father reunite together. As they make their way to a secret panda paradise, they face a supernatural bull named Kai who is eager to fight anyone who hinders his goal of defeating all Kung Fu masters.
Jack Black returns as the voice of Po, alongside Rebel Wilson and Dustin Hoffman who will reprise their roles as Mei Mei and Master Shifu respectively. According to Crossmap, Angelina Jolie (Tigress), Jackie Chan (Monkey), Seth Rogen (Mantis), David Cross (Crane) and Lucy Liu (Viper) will also reprise their roles of Po's Kung Fu fighting friends in the upcoming third installment. J.K. Simmons will also be in the film as the voice of the newest and even more intimidating villain, Kai the bull.
Dreamworks Animation first released "Kung Fu Panda" in 2008, grossing over $600 million worldwide. It was followed by "Kung Fu Panda 2" on May 2011 which earned almost the same amount globally. As per Coming Soon, both installments were recognized as Academy Award nominees for Best Animated Feature Film. The franchise has grossed a total of $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson based on the script written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. It is expected to hit the big screen on January 29, 2016.
