Although filming has not even started yet, music score for Magnificent Seven has already been written by the late award-winning composer James Horner. The film also recently got a release date from Sony Picture that is much earlier than its previous schedule of early 2017.
The remake for the 1960 film, The Magnificent Seven is underway. But even though it is currently in its early stages of production, according to Entertainment Weekly, director Antoine Fuqua revealed that the score has already been prepared by Oscar-winning composer James Horner even before he died in a plane crash last June.
According to Fuqua, Horner worked on the film's score solely based on the script. "He already wrote it for me based on the script. He did it all off the script because he wanted to surprise me. I thought it was a gift or something," he said.
"And they all came out here and said, 'Antoine, James wrote the music for Magnificent Seven already and it's just glorious.' So that's my memory of James." Fuqua added. According to Rope of Silicon, aside from Magnificent Seven, Horner's works can also be heard in Fuqua's Southpaw, and Patricia Riggen's The 33.
Meanwhile, a new release date has been given to the upcoming movie. According to Variety, Sony Picture recently announced release dates for some of their movies including Magnificent Seven. It is now slated for a September 23, 2016 release, much earlier than its previous January 2017 schedule.
Magnificent Seven will be a remake of the 1960s film which was about seven gunslingers who defended an oppressed Mexican village. The cast of the upcoming film include Ethan Hawke, Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Haley Bennett, Byung-hun Lee, Vincent D'Onofrio, Wagner Moura, Matt Bomer, Peter Saarsgaard, and Luke Grimes. More details about the upcoming movie are expected to be released in the coming months.
