Robin Thicke's life was not easy after breaking up with his wife of 10 years. He publicly displayed his intention to win her back, made an album with title "Paula," and a recorded a sad video "Get Her Back" but those didn't change the story.
On Wednesday, Thicke, 38, dished about how he moved on with his life after divorce with Paula Patton. The discussion was related to his current new song, "Back Together." When asked if the song "Back Together" was about his ex-wife, the "Blurred Lines" singer claimed that he can relate to the song well as it was during the time he parted ways with Patton, E! News reports.
"Actually I didn't write this song so I can't take credit for the meaning," he said. "I just heard this idea of getting back together and getting yourself back together, and what I was going through at the time I really really related to that and connected to it."
The singer, who's now dating 20-year-old model April Love Geary admitted that he has moved on and he has learned to trust again. Thicke claimed the song was more about getting yourself back together with love and partnership. The 40-year-old also credits his son and parents, who helped him a lot during those difficult times.
He told to the ABC co-host that he thanked his mom, singer Gloria Loring and dad, "Growing Pains" actor Alan Thicke for supporting him all throughout. The singer took some time off from work and just concentrated on what's important in his life. He also went with his son Julian on a trip, ABC News reports.
Thicke and Patton divorced after his "racy performance" with Miley Cyrus in 2013 VMA performance. A photo of him also appeared where he was seen grabbing a girl's butt. In Jan of last year, he was again seen almost kissing a woman in Paris.
Back in 2013, Thicke gushed about his love for his former flame during Oprah Winfrey's interview.
"You take it one day at a time...we're no different than any other couple out there, we have our fights and our problems, but we are madly in love and can't quit each other."
He gushed, "I would be lost without her."
Robin Thicke new song "Back Together" was his second single following his divorce with Patton. His next and eight album is slated to be out in fall. He is dating Geary, who is 18 years younger than the singer.
