'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is set to feature Orlando Bloom as he officially joins the sequel to reprise his role as Will Turner. This was publicly announced during the latest Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim last August 15, 2015.
According to Hollywood Life, the Australian heartthrob is all set to reteam with fellow actor Johnny Depp as Will and Captain Jack Sparrow respectively. The latter also attended the event in full pirate garb as his famous 'Pirates of the Caribbean' character - complete with staged inebriation. The film will center on Jack Sparrow's hunt for the legendary Trident of Poseidon in hopes of defeating the villainous Captain Salazar portrayed by Javier Bardem.
In an article by IGN, Bloom didn't make an appearance on 2011's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' despite being one of the franchise's main characters. It was a move to support new characters such as Penelope Cruz's Angelica since old characters like Will and Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann may not be returning. Bloom and Swann wanted to work on different projects at that time.
Den Of Geek rounded up all the official cast members for the upcoming film. Joining Bloom, Depp and Bardem on screen will be returning actor Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa and newcomers Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth and Brenton Thwaites as Henry. Kevin McNally and Stephen Graham are also officially signed in.
The movie will be directed by the Norwegian Joachim Ronning-Espen Sandberg filmmaking duo. They are known for previous work on 2006's 'Bandidas' and Oscar-nominated 'Kon-Tiki'.
'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is the fifth installment in the popular pirate film franchise based off a Disney theme park ride. It is scheduled for release on July 7, 2017. The franchise continues to be a mainstream and commercial success in the box office to date.
