Ed Skrein says 20th Century Fox's "Deadpool" is a lot "edgier" than other superhero movies. The "Transporter Refueled" actor warns it might be a nightmare for the studio's lawyers though, considering the numerous jokes pulled referenced to real people. The upcoming film is expected to open in cinemas on February 2016.
Ever since its showcase at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, the fans have absolutely been buzzing for Fox's upcoming take on the infamous 'Merc with a Mouth'. To spice up the fan's excitement more, "Deadpool" actor Ed Skrein provided the fans a few legitimate reasons why they should not pass on the superhero flick. "It's a lot edgier than the stuff that you'll normally see," the actor told Digital Spy. The actor assured that the new film would really stick to the representation in the comics which he noted most of the superhero movies today have deviated from. "We've really done that, it was a priority for us from the beginning to do that, and it really feels like we've created the first post-modern Hollywood superhero movie."
The 32-year-old actor has also teased the numerous jokes they have included while filming, which he noted to be the best part of the movie. But with so many references to real people in those puns, he thinks Fox's lawyers may have their hands full when editing the movie. "We had Harry Styles, David Beckham, we had Prince Charles, we had so many," he said. "I think it's going to be a nightmare for the Fox lawyers and a nightmare in the edit, but wonderful for the viewer.
As previously reported, Ed Skrein will play the role of the villainous Ajax in the movie. He will be joined by Ryan Reynolds who will portray the notorious 'Merc with a Mouth'. It will also star TJ Miller ("Transformers: Age of Extinction") as Weasel, Gina Carano ("Haywire") as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand ("Prism") as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Morena Baccarin ("Gotham ") as Copycat.
"Deadpool" is directed by Tim Miller from Rhette Reese and Paul Wernick's screenplay. It is scheduled to premiere on February 12, 2016.
