Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta Reveals New Enhanced Movement, Specialist System

By

Beta testing is always something to look forward to - for developers, players, and press alike. And when the multiplayer beta had been opened last Friday for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PS4 players for free, this is worth something to dig into. Treyarch was even more generous when it extended the game's beta until Monday at 10pm, supposedly to end Sunday evening. This extension might have proved beneficial for the developers, as the game received interesting reviews.

To get into the grit of things, the Exo suit will be removed in this coming Call of Duty installment. According to the Breitbart, the linchpin in last year's Advanced Warfare was the Exo suit. It enhanced movements of the players, allowing them to boost jump, dodge, and slam into the ground to move into the combat zones.

But players don't have to fret, as there is a new enhanced movement technique available. According to Newsweek, "this new movement system borrows heavily from Titanfall, (but) keeps the action moving at a brisk space." This new enhanced movement allows players to boost jump while controlling the angle and height with which they move in the air, wall-run, swim and fight underwater, and sprint into a running slide to avoid enemy gunfire and close the distance quickly to targets.

With this, the action still feels slower though than Advanced Warfare, described by Newsweek. But Treyarch would keep this in mind and might even make a few tweaks before Black Ops 3's release.

Another major addition which is something to look forward to is the Black Ops 3's Specialist system. This could prove to be the most radical and divisive change to the series' multiplayer. Players get to choose from nine unique characters (eight of which are available in the beta). Each character possesses a unique ability and has its own weapon. The specialists' unique weapons are extremely powerful, most of them being one-hit-kills and having area-of-effect damage.

One of the weapons that players got endeared to is the assault rifle HVK-30. Other favorite guns include the Man-o-War, the M8A7, and the Razorback. Players, in the process, have to learn which ones are best operable in enemy-encounters.

There are a host of other mechanics and changes introduced in Black Ops 3. And its beta did not just provide a peek but a major run-through on what can be expected in this Call of Duty installment. Over-all, players felt a little nostalgic as Black Ops 3 had taken them back to the very substance of the Call of Duty experience. This might be the very formula Treyarch is aiming for at this time, to make their audience stay hyped until they purchase and play the game...repeatedly.

Multiplayer beta can still be accessed through pre-orders of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The game will hit shelves on November 6 for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
