The incoming 2018 "Captain Marvel" will probably be the first ever lead female superhero for Marvel Studios. Now UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has shown interest in landing the role for the movie. Since then, a lot of people have expressed their opinions on why the champ fits the role.
We Got This Covered reports that "Captain Marvel" previously went by the name of Miss Marvel. It was later changed to Captain. Marvel Studios has confirmed that this female comic superhero will be seen in the big screen. Coincidentally, Ronda Rousey verbally expressed her interest in playing out the role as Carol Danvers when she was asked which superhero she would want to portray.
Rousey is famous for her feats in the world of MMA. Her latest being able to defeat Bethe Correia in UFC 190 min just 34 secs of the first round as International Business Times reports. ." Being tough in real-life combat sports has made her a likely candidate to portray it in the big screen. She has actually tried it out by appearing in films such "Fast & Furious 7," "Entourage," and "The Expendables. Ronda Rousey has been volleying her intent by posting fan made art images of herself in various "Captain Marvel" outfits in her Instagram account. Upon seeing it comic book writer and director, Kevin Smith, strongly agrees that Rousey is suitable for the part. Smith says that one does not have to even think otherwise. Firmly pointing out that other than playing a superhero role Ronda can actually beat someone up.
However, a report from Inquisitor says that the Ronda Rousey should not be given the lead role as "Captain Marvel" just because she is campaigning for it. Citing that Ronda has still yet to prove herself when it comes to acting most especially for a lead role. Despite of previous acting participation in other films, where her roles as a tough girl were pretty one-dimensional, it would still not justify for overall acting. The lighter side of it is that they agree that she does have the looks to make it.
Although Ronda's previous film portrayals were said to be satisfactory, it wasn't enough to test her ability to act to the fullest potential. It is yet to be seen if Ronda Rousey can really act other than just playing tough. It is a fact that "Captain Marvel" portrays a tough woman role for the most part yet the delivery of everyday life's memorable scenes will surely serve as a challenge for Ronda. It is a good thing that Rousey has another movie entitle "Mile 22" where she will be given a lead role. The movie will be also starring Mark Wahlberg.
If ever Ronda Rousey will get the part for "Captain Marvel" by expressing intent and her lobbying efforts, it remains to be seen if she can bring justice to the movie as a whole. Until then, it looks like it will be a battle of opinions for those who are in favor or not in favor of Rousey landing the part.
